The Importance of Quality
A fundamental principle guiding the Galvin Electricity Initiative is the fact that quality always saves. As such, raising the quality of the nation's electricity supply system will create substantial cost savings for all electricity consumers and society at large. Initiative founder Bob Galvin was a key figure in establishing the internationally recognized Six Sigma quality control process, and the Initiative's Perfect Power System smart microgrid architecture is the result of applying Six Sigma thinking to the growing challenges associated with our ailing power system. When creating a system for a community, university, development or other end-user, our step-by-step, quality-informed process yields a design that meets the reliability, efficiency, and environmental needs of that end-user, perfectly. This process was developed in partnership with The Joseph M. Juran Center for Leadership in Quality at the University of Minnesota, which has developed a Six Sigma training program specifically for the utility industry.
